Meanwhile, Back at the Castle . . .

I'm not a member of any organized political party, I'm a Democrat.
Will Rogers

Whew!

I owe you lots of updates.

The convention was exhausting. Truly, truly exhausting.

It was disorganized, it was frustrating, it was expletive-inducing.

I had a great time.

Brave Sir Robin actually is engaging in the untold luxury of calling in sick today. I actually didn't wake up until 11:30 this morning. You have no idea how utterly impossible it is for me to sleep past 6:30 on most days.

A few brief observations:

It is all about back room politics and deal cutting in our State Party.

Chelsea Clinton is very pretty in person. She is charming, intelligent and classy. She was the high-light of the weekend.

It is time for new blood in our (State) Party Leadership.

Clinton supporters were, individually very nice and willing to be gracious, collectively they were petulant and acted like spoiled 4 year olds who didn't get their way.

Alternates have way more fun than Delegates.

The size of the venue and the poor lighting means the pictures will probably be awful.

Next time I'm wearing sneakers and a backpack that will will hold food and water. The schedule made it impossible to eat, or even grab a bottle of water.

Molly Ivins is revered and missed.

Obama will be our next president.

You won't see diversity like this at a Republican convention.

and i have to think that being a democrat in TX sounds like fun in and of itself.

i just never used the two in a sentence before ;)

i am glad you had a good time.

i was certain Chelsea Clinton was as engaging in person as I had heard she was.

It sounds fascinating, although I am disappointed that you weren't treated to some beer and nachos at the very least!

I've only heard good things about Chelsea -- and the fact that she has turned out so well is really a tribute to the Clintons I think.

Molly Ivins is one of my personal heroes. I am SICK that she died so young. Why do so many stinkers live so long??? (Yes, I know this is a philosophical and religious question that has never truly been answered for us.)

If it makes you feel any better, (actually it makes me feel worse), Sigmund went to 10 Downing Street yesterday and he was AMAZED to discover that it was utterly chaotic, too.

So didja come up with a shining Democratic star to runn against Good Hair? We need a really strong candidate to whoop up on him and the stogey smoker and the battle ax grandma.

The convention sounds really interesting! How cool that you got to see Chelsea. I wonder how long it will take her to run for office.

I'm looking forward to more info/photos!

Also, if individually Clinton supporters are gracious, perhaps it's a good thing that they cast their November votes individually.

And in private.
