Err, What?

This is an actual letter. Sad thing is, she probably votes. To laugh or to cry? This is the republican base my friends. She and her ilk will never be won over with logic, or reason, or economic concerns.

I think laugh outwardly and cry inwardly. At least that's what I'm doing.

I'm trying to decide if I think the paper printed it in earnest or to show what a fool this person is or.

You know, yesterday my research group was discussing education & public outreach (E&PO) efforts on the part of NASA and universities. We wondered whether public consciousness of a term like "coronal mass ejection" (compared with "solar flare" or "sunspot") is a reasonable yardstick by which to judge the effectiveness of our efforts to get people interested in physics.

But after letters like that, I'm torn between wanting to quit grad school to go on a massive E&PO campaign, and just throwing up my hands and saying "that's it, I give up."

I feel that way often.
