It’s Carnival Time!!

As some of you may recall – Sir Robin Rides Away is hosting the Carnival of Liberals on May 7th. That means it’s time to get those submissions in!! The best way is through the submission form found here. The deadline for submissions is Monday, May 5.

Carnival #63 will be hosted by Batocchio at Vagabond Scholar this Wednesday, April 23. (William Shakespeare’s birthday if you're keeping track at home) Make a note to go over and check it out. I’ll remind you, in case you forget.

Lately, I haven’t been posting as much political content as I used to. There are a couple of reasons for that. Mostly, it’s scandal fatigue. Our government, our election process, our entire political system are just so screwed up, I feel small, insignificant, and utterly helpless in my hopes to change it. Also, there are others who I feel just do it so much better than I do. The second reason is the self-destruction I see going on in the Democratic Party. When I see like minded people who should be happily working together toward a common cause become enemies, it’s time to step back and take a breath.

November is all that matters. I have deliberately been trying to avoid any Primary discussion on this site. That doesn’t mean I’ve given up on the process, far from it!! To that end – Here is my theme for the Carnival of Liberals #64:

Thinking Liberally, Thinking Positively!

I don’t want anything about the primary race, I don’t want any “things are so screwed up rants” As a proud, unabashedly liberal citizen, I get enough of what we’re against, I say – What are we for? I will take submissions on any topic other than the Primary election, but I’m looking for positive submissions. What can Liberalism provide? What can we do better than the failed system of Corporate Harlotry that we have been living under since 1980? Why should anyone be a Liberal? Let’s tell the world on May 7th. Get those submissions in!!

You are reading my mind, mister. Even at Shakesville I can't bear to read comments any more.

Think positively indeed!

What is the deadline for those submissions? You say the carnival itself is the 7th.

Gotta admit I really don't know how these carnivals work, even though I'm pointed to them from time to time. Might you explain? (I'm never to shy to admit my ignorance.)

Um. If I had followed your link, I would have received my explanation.

My bad.

As for comments at Shakesville.

Me too. I used to go there multiple times a day. Now, maybe once a week. It's just so disheartening to me that I have started avoiding it. Perhaps not the best approach, but there it is.

As for the deadline? Whoops. My bad, I'll add one. Thanks.

I'll try to come up with something, although the "deep thought posts" of my brain seems to have been taking a vacation lately - but not because of the vitriolic infighting that's been all over.

Some people have been getting on to me about that, so partaking in The Carnival is a good thing.

I would like liberalism to stand for:

EQUALIZING OPPORTUNITY

I just read the coolest post about a school system in Connecticut that has an amazing art program. Apparently, it is called a HOT school -- which
'stands for a Higher Order Thinking school. In their own words, the program "works with select Connecticut schools to promote teaching and learning in, about, and through the arts in a democratic setting". In these schools the arts are rigorous academic subjects.'

Check it out at http://connecticutaly.blogspot.com/

I wish that every child (including mine) could go to a school like this. Let's make art, not war!

Furthermore about the comments at Shakesville...

It's not the posts. They always give me something to think about. Don't click on the comments button and all is well! And it seems that many of these commenters are not the old "regulars" but (maybe) former lurkers or (more likely) people who have shown up specifically to pitch a fit.

Ok. All done with that tear.

I still don't know when the deadline is, though. If you're posting your 10 choices on the 7th, I presume that that day is not the deadline. Help?

Ahh dear Bitty, reread the first paragraph. . . . . .

May 5th is the deadline.

:)

Bee -

Your link doesn't work??

Bitty's brain is tired beyond belief.

Believe it or not, I still have reading skills, but my batteries are very, very run down. It's the reason I deliberately haven't been commenting on some posts and why I'm writing lighthearted posts myself.

It will get all better in a few weeks.

Maybe.

May 5. Got it.

Don't give up, Brave Sir Robin. The conservatives are trying to wear us out. They won't rest until our children are DNA swabbed at birth, registered for the draft, and swear allegiance to der Fuhrer.
