Rest In Peace Harvey Korman
Harvey Korman has passed away at the age of 81.
He was best known for his stint on the Carol Burnett show. As I've written before, I loved that show. To me, the absolute best part was seeing him fall apart laughing at Tim Conway's antics. Not only was Harvey a brilliant comedian, he obviously loved his work and loved life.
Of course he will always be remembered for that show, but don't forget Hedley Lamarr in Blazing Saddles. Oh, and lest we forget, he was the voice of the Great Gazoo on the Flinstones.
We'll all miss you Harvey.

As long as I live, I will love Harvey for barely being able to hold it together in any scene he did with Tim Conway. I was a little kid during the run of the Carol Burnett Show, but even when I was little, I wanted three things: a Bob Mackie dress with plenty of sequins, a big light under which to stand so the sequins would sparkle, and a chance to sit in the audience and watch Harvey Korman.
Did you ever see him on the Muppet Show? The scene where he plays the tamer of the big friendly Muppet beast is a hoot. He runs around the stage, brandishing a whip, screaming "BACK, you blackhearted demon, BACK!" while the beast says, in a voice as mild as a glass of milk, "The other day I was reading Balzac...in translation, of course..."
My favorite Hedley Lamarr line: "RAISINETS!"
Sigh. Thank you, Harvey.
a Bob Mackie dress with plenty of sequins
LOL!!!
You know he (Bob Mackie) did all the costumes for that show as well.
Yes! I almost posted that Muppet clip! It was a hoot.
This is the first I've heard. How sad.
Time moves so fast, doesn't it? All that you describe seems to have happened only a few years ago.
Like Bitty, I was a bit shocked to read this and discover that Harvey had become "old." It doesn't seem like more than 30 years have gone by, does it?
We watched very little TV when I was a child, and the Carol Burnett show is something that I remember watching on Saturday nights with my grandmother. Like Bakerina, my abiding memory of him is the way he used to crack up while he was performing!
He was brilliant! I loved him on "Blazing Saddles".
BSR, go back and read my soap making post again if you are going to try and make some. I realized I had left out a couple of pretty important things that I have now added.
Harvey was even on my mind at work today, but let's not go there.
Work was painful.
I will miss that dude. But I have my memories.
Hey Kona!
How is work anyway? you didn't sound so thrilled about it the other day.
